Dear Retailer,
My name is Tierney Salter, and I am Medical Herbalist, President and Owner of The Herbalist, located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The Herbalist has been in business since 1984 (almost 25 years!) and is a highly respected manufacturer of multi-herbal products in this country and world-wide. Our business and manufacturing facility are located in Seattle, Washington where we have developed an extensive line of therapeutic herbal products for internal and external use. This line includes Special Formula Liquid Extracts, Single Herb Liquid Extracts, Alcohol Free Herbal Glycerites, Herbal Hand-crafted Tea Blends, Herbal oils, and Therapeutic Massage Oils. Our lab uses only state of the art processing equipment to ensure the greatest quality herbal products that nature has to offer.
We strictly adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and are an active member of the American Herbal Products Association. Because of the small size of our business, we can take the time and care required in choosing only the herbs of the highest quality and purity. In keeping with this standard, our herbs are selectively and ethically wild-harvested from their native habitats or certified organically grown. Collected by experts in the field of botany and herbal identification, many of our herbs are grown or wild-harvested locally in the Northwest, and many come from the pristine San Juan Islands. We are dedicated to preserving the continuation of the medicinal plant species used in our products. Our herbs are never irradiated.
Each herb has its own unique properties, and some herbs are better processed fresh, while others are better freshly dried. The fresh herbs arrive via overnight air or hand delivery, and are immediately processed to ensure optimal potency. The freshly dried herbs are carefully dried in their whole form. Using the science of organolepsis, we carefully inspect the color, taste, texture and aroma of each batch of herbs, to ensure its quality.
Liquid Extracts: Made with pure grain alcohol and distilled water, and occasionally glycerine
Herbal Glycerites: Alcohol-free and made with kosher vegetable glycerine and distilled water
Herbal Teas: Made with herbs that are primarily certified organic or ethically wild-harvested, and hand blended in small batches to assure maximum freshness.
Herbal Oils: Made with cold-pressed extra olive oil.
Therapeutic Massage Oils: Made with pure essential oils, botanical extracts, herbal oils, and cold pressed vegetable oils.
The reason we choose to formulate liquid extracts over tablets or capsules is the Extract Advantage: the active ingredients in extracts are immediately absorbed into the bloodstream and readily assimilated by the body, promptly producing the desired results. An extract is more concentrated, making it a more potent and effective method of treatment. When manufactured and stored properly, they have a shelf life of at least 6 years.
Our extracts are combined in The Herbalist’s innovative herbal formulae, using the latest medical and pharmaceutical research findings. The synergistic effect of these herbal combinations allows the inclusion of herbs that help the body to heal at various stages of need.
The Herbalist has also developed color-coded labels based on the eclectic Rainbow System of Personal Growth and Health. The colors refer to the health of a specific area of the body, and each label also contains: suggested use specific for each formula, cautions, a complete list of ingredients with the common and Latin name, structure and function statements, and the FDA disclaimer. These labels make it easier for the retailer to find the correct product appropriate for the client, and ease for the client in choosing and using the extract. We also provide copies of our informative Herbal Home Directory to be displayed along with our products, as a reference guide for you and your retail customers.
